What do we
do to our horses? Are we asking for too much, because we derive benefit from
them? I ask me this question as a friend told me about a horseman. The show
horses have never seen a paddock. The reason: The horses are precious and the risk
of injury is excessive. To balance that the horses leave the stable three times
a day. Under the saddle and at the lunge. They haven’t the chance of moving
free and have fun with their fellow species. Horses are sensitive beings which
absolutely need contact to each other. Many live in social isolation, separated
by wood and bars. Solitary confinement! Results are conduct disorder or
sickness. At this point we should ask ourselves about the expectations to our
horses. So please ask yourself constantly and do your best to keep your horse
healthy and happy!
